Even though the site searches will not be completely up to date. In most cases results will be no more than 2 days old. For a site with a lot of content, this is a superb feature.
yeah, its excellent. not perfect but a good way to make money on people who are leaving anyway.

I'm sure it will be very low pay out, but for Google it gives them a lot of exposure. They need to fill an almost endless way to increase the amount of ads they display. They can do that by buying additional content or making AdSense available on more pages. The search box will be cheap advertising for them.
