i don't know who this is but i know i don't like the results i'm seeing. looks like straight google for most results but not all. might be the migration away from google for yahoo that seems inevitable.
This is a intresting tred to be honest . i read a artical today about if ya not on google your no ! where web site wise . if we look back a few years the same could be said about yahoo. to be honest i i always liked hotbot . for sum reseasion . for serching that is . it seams the google however like payed advertising rather than the old add your own url . for us no_profit web sites this is always a probem as we havent realy got the money to add to serch engines . i do know you can use site like submit it . or ect ect . but do they realy link you ? i can see a day however that all your listing will be payed for . scary for us no_profits out there . :?
I've seen the commercials too... and to be honest, I'm not sure whats up either... They are probably going to be going to major Pay engines, one of my techies here say they agree with Tom ... "I think its because they branched away from google engines results into 2-5 engines" .. All I could find where we might see something is: http://promo.yahoo.com/pressroom/releases.html I didn't read them all yet.. but I'll get around to it...
Yesterday the results were different. I couldn't even figure out where they got them from. Today it appears to be Google results again. Maybe it was a stale index?
Hard to say what the heck is happening. I think maybe we're seeing a handful of Internet companies looking to dominate the search engines. (As if they haven't been doing that the whole time!!) Amazon is looking to knock out google according to the news I read this morning on yahoo.. here is the link if anyone is interested... http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20030926/ap_on_hi_te/google_advertising_2
lets look at the positive: we know as much about this new "engine" as anyone. if we keep our think caps on and stay sharp we have as much chance as anyone in domination the "new yahoo"! :)
Edwin, you make a great point.. let's just sit back and see what the New Yahoo brings, maybe it will be better than we all think.. :D ***thinking positive***
hmmmm.. i guess we shall see!!
They are probably going to use one or more of the search engines they acquired this year: Inktomi, Alltheweb or Altavista. Or maybe they will use a combination of all three. Google is probably not in their future for long.
