There was no particular keyphrase. The sampling was done based on capturing the site that users click. Do you think it matter what keyphrase is?
Yes, I do. The more specific your keywords, the better your conversion rate will be. The better your conversion rate.. well, you know the rest.. :)
Yes, that would definitely be a factor once you get people to your site. This article focuses on the significance of being higher on a list (any type of list) Would you agree?
i think its well written. but you have to be careful with conversion rates, etc because they vary so much by industry and product.
Thank you. I didn't get into conversion rate at all. Just the number of potential hits for being at a certain position on a list.
are you getting the search data from inventory.overture.com?
The statistics of clicks were gathered from in house source to compile how likely a listing will get click based on it's position and the page it was on. I then use the probability number and apply it to real life situation, i.e., search engine, directory listing, top list listing, etc. The example of calculating traffic based on the search term uses the number from Overture for the term "web hosting". I believe this is acceptable way of putting together all the numbers with few assumptions.
great. i think thats a decent way to do it!
Thank you for your input. I will add the bit about methodology in the article when I have a chance.
The higher you rank, the better off you will be. But a point worth making is not all traffic qualifies (if that makes sense) The intentions of the visitor should be considered. Are they at site for information or to buy products or services? Someone who is just looking for information (probably) will not be looking to purchase product. Someone looking to buy a product might not be interested in joining a community. So the better you can target/ direct your traffic the better :)
Thank you, Brigid. I completely agreed to your statement, but I will limit the scope of my article for now to define why it's good to be on top of the list. You idea will probably result in another article that deals with targetting traffic versus traffic, and how to get traffic that converts. Again, thank you both. PS: Edwin, I see you on a few forums... "You can be Posting Leader on my site anyday" (Just like what Val K. said to Tom C. in Top Gun)
Sounds like a plan, Paul. Good luck to you :)
The article is good but you definitely need to write a few more supporting articles and clarify some key points. The first point I would clarify is that SEO is an Art and not a Science. The numbers are all estimations. Almost every keyword phrase I ranked for has lower total traffic then estimated by Overture.
Good comment. Thank you.
You may also want to add some information concerning [b:27688363a0]blended cpc[/b:27688363a0] I feel like anyone using a SEO or PPC strategy exclusively needs to be careful. A blended campaign may work out a lot better.
Well put together. a little complex and not enough porn
