installing My SQL

The MySQL is installed on the server. I never used Windows versions, but in the Linux versions all you have to do is import the SQL into the database. Usually this is done by using the command line or PhpMyAdmin. I think what you're talking about is a stand alone version of MySQL that runs on your desktop. It's not going to be terribly helpful.

I'm not sure if my site is Windows or Unix. But I knew that with mySQL there were diff install instructions for Unix & Windows.. I was thinking they were both for the host site.. But, then I doubted my reasoning, when the mySQL on my host site only gave me viewing capabilities to the databases the website had created for me. So bottom line is, since my mySQL was installed by my host site, then they should have something in my cPanel similar to the mySQL Admin area. Correct?.. So I should figure out from them what they did with it.? Right? I sound real forceful & ready to do battle with my host site, Don't I? Wenda

Yiipee... I found it.. My Cpanel has all these big bold icons for maintaining everything, then a few.. Then this form of info, then a list of data.. Then on the bottom of everything is this itty bitty tiny winnie little link say titled [size=9:e1c1a86d98]phpmyadmin[/size:e1c1a86d98] Makes me think no one really wanted me to find it..??

phpmyadmin is easy to use. you can click on run sql query and then upload an sql file right into it. thats how you can install a php/mysql program very easily.
