G00G intelligence is getting paid handsomely today. :!:
the pagerank system is still the underlying key to the whole ranking system even though the toolbar has been de-activated. stanford is the patent holder on pagerank and made out big in the ipo.
One of the tricks i use is have div discriptions with keywords in them for links and elements that appear only when you mouse over them. good for raising keyword density.
http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/04_18/b3881001_mz001.htm One of the original investors comments in the above article that Google does not resemble a world class company to him and that he will be selling out. Quote from article linked above is below Some investors find the approach unsettling. "They do not sound even remotely like a fiercely competitive world-class company, [but] rather kids playing in a sandbox," says one Google investor, who plans on selling shortly after the IPO
A really negative article about them was the Forbes articles from a while back. The big complaint was that they're a very disorganized company that's growing way too fast. There has also been a big culture class between the Search people and the business folks. The stock did okay today but we'll see how they do in the next few months. They have to report a lot more info now, and that will help competitors.
Can you find those articles and post them in this thread WM? :?: :?: :?:
The second day of Trading for Google stock was marked by Analysts coming out to cover the security and issue recommendations. http://news.moneycentral.msn.com/ticker/article.asp?Symbol=US:GOOG&Feed=RTR&Date=20040820&ID=3927705 Mark my words, I am sure you all will, Google will Not be able to hold this level of Market Capitalization Long term. They are not worth as much as General Motors and that is where they are valued at (market capitalization).
Last week Yahoo did the following: Just weeks after settling a patent dispute with Google that yielded it a bigger stake of Google's shares, Yahoo Inc. announced the sale of 2.3 million of shares of Google stock at $82.62 apiece. The sale netted $191 million. Google gave Yahoo 2.7 million shares of its stock to settle the dispute. Google shares began trading on Aug. 19, following its IPO. They sold the shares wholesale to a market maker. Below is the close of trading on August , 30th, 2004 Google Inc. stock is moving sideways. not that much demand.
I told you that Wall Street would short the stock Edwin, it is not worth more than General Motors, all of the professional traders know this, they always win in the end. Remember AOL, remember Netscape. Even M$ got cut from $115.00 to where it is today, 42-45 bucks a share.
Looks like they have a year or so before they have to worry about Longhorn. I think that a number of investors are going to try and short them.
Longhorn is gonna be way more than a year.
Yeah DZ, they can't even get SP2 right, makes you wonder about XP in the first place. My next computer will be an APPLE, no doubt about it. 8O 8O 8O 8O
Not to keen on any mac os. osX is based on a precursor to unix & the gui could be way better. Linux rocks in my opinion.
You would be keen on one if you had one, don't lie to me DZ 8O 8O They are much more secure than PC, you know that also.
I like the titanium Ibook cases but if I had a mac the first think I would do is take apart the os and rebuild it to my standards. The machines themselves are quite nice but a bit overpriced. As for security I have a system running a multiproxy engine, webtunnels and with all ports cloaked. Im fairly impervious.
macs are for tree-hugging weirdos who drive volkswagens!
sHUT UP both of you before I give both a Lebanese backhand
Macs are for ~~~~[i:1f22825d11]Artiistes[/i:1f22825d11]~~~~ If he wants to join the Cult of Mac it is his choice. Dont forget about the real computers out there though. Titanium mac laptops are in my opinion the only good macs. the rest of them are underpowered, overpriced and look, well a bit to mac. The OS is pretty {pause} Clunky. The os is bit more stable and secure than windows but for what you pay you should get more power and its not as capable as linux by a long shot( even has problems comparing to windows in some areas). You can't customise components as much and upgrading has MUCH less choice. Also 64 bit chips are not twice as fast as 32 bit chips dispite what all the mac heads say. the speed increase is at most about 30% (if you do 3D rendering) otherwise, not really. Also you dont have the choice of software for macs. If you do get a mac, Installing a new shell is probably the best option.
OK then, lets get back to the Google Intelligence deal here :!: http://www.fool.com/news/mft/2004/mft04083101.htm?logvisit=y&source=estmarhln001999&npu=y&bounce=y&bounce2=y The above article talks about what Google may do with some of the new found wealth (trading stock for other companies), they must make some moves soon. :?:
Good article, dont see if its related to SEO though.
This is a Google Intelligence thread DZ, general Google knowledge (everything Google), not just SEO. Whatever you got Google related, contribute here my friend
Ok, whats the deal with google's link command. 8O why dose it show what it shows, anyone? still trying to figure it out. have a few possible theories but nothing concrete.
I don't know DZ, I use webmaster tools to do it automatically, there are many different commands that different folks use. I have not recorded them all, they seem to differ from engine to engine also. Why not start a thread on checking backlinks and EZ will give you a lot of his secrets in it. 8O
Well I use allinurl and link allinurl shows a lot more results where as link seems to only show a sample, but I am wondering if there is some sort of pattern in it.
Start a thread on the subject since it would benefit a lot of webmasters, most are using tools now to do this. They DO NOT know how to do it themselves in most cases. So please start a thread on it and make BK happy today :!: :!: :!:
Dosnt require a thread. go to google type in link:www.yourdomain.com then type allinurl:yourdomain.com check the difference most tools use the link: command. and thats it. link: seems to only display a sample list of sites.
Well someone on another forum mentioned the following. hotbot.com linkdomain:www.mypage.com alexa link:http://www.mypage.com altavista link:www.mypage.com msn linkdomain:www.mypage.com So there is the start of your thread, get to work please DZ :!: :!:
the best of all is @:www.mypage.com then you see all the links google really knows about.
My rate is £35 an hour. Going home now anyway.
DarkSatZ, you are asking for it, are you not :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:
I knew Edwin would come through, now DZ is getting lazy, he will not even start threads anymore. :?: :?: EZ why don't you start a backlink check thread if DZ will not :?: :?: Get this out of My Google Intelligence thread damm it 8O 8O 8O
Yeah edwin can do it. Im gonna have a few beers.
Wish I was there to slap you on the back and buy one or two. Have a good night, get back to work tomorrow, OK :?:
Thanks. Work, What is this strange thing you speak of?
