I know it makes you dependant on drag and drop and isnt that good for SEO. its good for animated layers with timelines. but mainly its an idiots tool with a few advanced features for the odd lazy pro. but its still better than any other drag & drop editor.
yeh.... as i was saying about dreamweaver...... my problem is... this is what i do... commands>web foto album> then i upload my pictures to my html page and some of the pictures come up in like this grey box with a like a line down the center almost like a ripped/torn page.but also it says " could not run the script" "this command requries a active document". but all my documents are alredy open u see, so i really do not no what to do...so can u guys hel me plzzz thanksss bye

Hey Dave Actually I use dreamweaver MX not that i use it that much. real professionals code by hand. so dreamweaver dosnt support drag and drop you say? Code - Split -Design look familiar. Think before speaking, better yet, check your facts. Thats why our friend is having problems, he is using (design) drag and drop style and dosnt know how to code. Hey setmesumhelp post the source code for your page and I will take a look.
"real professionals code by hand" ? real professionals know how to code by hand AND when to do it, and when to to choose a 'wysiwyg' for doing the dull content things that are pointless to do in a text editor. if you want to use a text editor mostly that's fine, i'm glad you know how to hand code, as should all users of any html editing product. I agree that whatever package you use you need to know the code and what 'features' of programs to avoid (due to bloated code, compatibility problems etc) but to say it's an " idiots tool with a few advanced features for the odd lazy pro" is naiive.
Perhaps I might have emphasised my point overly but the simple fact of the matter is a lot of webdesigners today use dreamweaver with absolutely no coding abilities and when they run into trouble they are stumped. Perhaps Im wrong Please would you show me one of these advanced sites you have build with dreamweaver that has been designed for SEO. I would love to see it.

Yes but my point was that dreamweaver makes people less able to code and do creative thinks with the code than people who are self taught. the logo on greatnexus.com for example, coded by hand & loaded with keywords. Dreamweaver dosnt do that. It makes people reliant on drag and drop and dropdown menus.
i agree up to a point but that doesn't negate its use for those developers that learnt hand coding and know how to add to what they can create quickly and easily in dreamweaver. yes designers/developers need to know their code but it doesn't mean that DW is inherently 'evil' because it doesn't advise you. it leaves it up to the users. loaded with keywords? alt="GreatNexus Home Page" also DW MX and above prompts you for alt text and long description when you insert an image. it's a bit like a porsche: if you're a professional driver it will let get the most out of the road, if you're a boy racer your more likely to get yourself killed. what it doesn't do is drive for you! it's a professional package for professionals and users aspiring to be professionals. the onus for good coding practices and good SEO optimisation is always on the developer.
professionals care about templatization mostly. any seo can seo site if the logic and presentation layers are seperate. you can design a template one time in dreamweaver, clean it, seperate it to .html and externall .css j/s etc and use cms to manage it. thats the cleanest way, imho
yes thanks for saying its a idiots tool! my main problem is thatwhen you make this web album its actually created in fireworks then some how they automaticaaly put it into your dreamweaver page for you and its the fireworks page that says *could not run script,this requries a open document* but my point is that all my documents are open! darksat: sorry im new to this so what do you meen by *post the source code for your page and I will take a look* ill quikly describe this agen even tho you most probably now... i go to commands>webalbum>choose the file etcc.. > create.. then fire works comes up and creates it for u and thats when it goves the message i mentioned erlier. then the album is created but only certain pictures are created the ones that are not have this grey type ov thing..is there any way of me showing you this image????? any way i realy appreicate all this help!!!! i realy do !!! thanks

Ok your main problem is that the webpage is looking for images on a folder on your harddrive so even of it worked for you it wouldnt work for anyone else unless they had all the images for your site on thier computer in the same folder you have them. If you want to design a website you need to know HTML Its the backbone of the internet and the most basic language to learn. even if you use dreamweaver. Start here. http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_www.asp It dosnt take long to learn the basics.
you can go to half price books and probably find a book on xhtml for under $10. if you plan on staying on as a webmaster its the best money you can spend and the first thing to learn

well i finaly dound out the problem! dreamweaver only seems to like JPEG images and a few of my images were bmp etc... thereofre wen i tried to make the web album i didnt like the files. my next concern is how to change the format of a picture...eg.. from bmp into JPG???? but i realy have to thank all you guys for helpin and i am realy thankful for thr support!!!!!!
Never use BMPs for a pic on a webpage. there should be an option in microsoft paint to save as jpg
that's because bmp's are suitable for the web (oh sorry darkast see you said that already). use whatever graphics application you have to change from bitmap and save as/export as jpeg. if you have fireworks, photoshop and some others you can batch convert whole folders at a time.
i managed to find out the problem! it was those bitmap files that were some how causing a error on dreamweaver! all sorted now though, thanks to paint! i just simply went to save as n changed it to a JPG file! thanks 4 the help guysss!!! cheeers
