Quantum leap in Google SERPS - Plural = Singular

two things come to mind: 1) SERPS will be much more competetive. i.e. there will be many more results per phrase. 2) SEO will be easier as you have lots less word variations to concern yourself with.

Thats what I was going to say too... So much easier to cover your keywords then LOL ....

we will have to follow this trend. i do notice more results on many searches now.

Singular and plural sure appear to be the same now.

You will be competing against a lot more people for each phrase now!

It seems to have made it more difficult to mantain a click through ratio. But, maybe it's just me.

definitely not a full case of "stemming": from: http://www.google.com/help/basics.html "Word Variations (Stemming) To provide the most accurate results, Google does not use "stemming" or support "wildcard" searches. In other words, Google searches for exactly the words that you enter in the search box. Searching for "book" or "book*" will not yield "books" or "bookstore". If in doubt, try both forms: "airline" and "airlines," for instance." so they claim they don't do it all.

hmmmm... interesting. It would probably be more practical to do it that way. It would also cause more competition among keywords.

from what i see there are a LOT more results for most searches. looks like the google index has gotten a lot bigger.

The results DO appear to be combined for certain keywords, but not for all. And stemming is not yet taking place. Stemming would mean all variations would have to be accounted for. That would throw the whole google system out of whack.

Google added adobe files to it's engine not to long ago...I feel that it created way to many results on a search.... to many that just ramble about nothing.... :?

usually i think the complaining about the SERPS is wrong but i do agree its been tougher finding things lately. they are definitely changing things majorly again.

It has to be tied into the "Broad Content Matching" they added to AdWords. With Broad Content Matching on, you will get a huge number of matches for a great number of general phrases. Check out Google's recent acquisition. That will shed a light on things to come.
