LOL! So it's just a journal basically? I'm new to blogging. It may not even be something I can do on my site.
Well you could write articles related to jewelry. Include images of the new designs, new styles coming up in your industry, price changes in gold/diamonds/silver etc. Promotional offers that you are giving to your customers... etc etc..Also collect your visitor's emails, you can offer them with promotional offers/discounts. Keep learning about the happenings in your industry & keep updating your site to get those repeat customers. Blogspot is a cool and simple one .. however there are hundreds of free blog sites that you can use.
a journal is the best way to look at it. you try to add helpful info that is at least somewhat related to the main topic.

blogs have a lot of nice benefits for the search engines. they add depth to the site and show your command of the subject.

make sure you submit it to blog directories. there are a million of them.
Ok...I do link it on my site, but I haven't submitted it to blog directories. I will do that.
Try and get a few high PR links to it from a wide IP range.
most links possible from the widest range of ip addresses wins.
PR is probably more important for a blog.
Another thing that might be cool is explaining the properties and the history behind the stones and how they were used by tribesman. Did they help to establish ranks among the tribe? Were the craftsmen highly regarded by their peers? Stuff like that.. Giving your reader something that is informative might arouse their curiousity. ..anyhow, jus a thought or two from me :)

It has helped me to visualize something more than just announcing our sales and promotions. This gives the reader a reason to explore it.
