if the hosting is affordable, its worth it. the extra ips make a huge difference. but as darksat said, link from one to the other but never link back.

I would also say that it is definitely no worth it to host each of your domain names in a different company, or to get a different IP for each one of them just to get a very small insignificant improvement for PR . Just host them on the same server and have a 301 permanent redirect installed on each one of them pointing to your main domain.
around may of this year google changed their algo to one that favored links from seperate class c ip ranges. that also assumes they have different whois info and appear seperate..
