Web Templates: Html vs. PHP (???)

If you dont have a PHP server you cannot run PHP pages. HTML is a web language for websites where as PHP is run on the server and generates HTML dynamically. You cannot edit a PHP document in frontpage. (frontpage is shit) PHP is more advanced than HTML HTML is simpler, start of with html first, then learn PHP.

If you aren't familular with PHP you probably don't need it. PHP is great for more advanced stuff, HTML is much easier and can do plenty unless you actually start doing things like shopping carts, secure pages (i mean truly secure) and stuff.

what type of editor do you use for php? are there any that are more user friendly? i got the html thing down... wondering if php is worth trying out? -your friendly, neighborhood biochemist jodie

If you know HTML then PHP is a good next step. I use notepad for editing. You will need to run your site on a server that supports PHP though.
