way to link to a 'part screen' tile for info display ??

Try this. http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex8/dhtmlwindow.htm

Thankyou for the link, yes, this is similar to what I wanted. So as I understand it, borwsers that do not support this script will open the requested content on a new page ? I don't want to be in a position of losing customers because 25% of them see nothing, or find the site hard to use because of my design or use of this script Is it a safe one do you think ? Silly question : Is this Java? - is a 'script' Java ? - or dhtml ? ta - Paul

DHTML, which is javascript and stylesheets. as for opening in a new window I dont think so, but about 94% of the net have javascript enabled and I will work on one that degrades gracefully if you want.

I think I may be trying to overcomplicate things, perhaps just to have a seperate page for each seperate product might be best, it means doing a lot of pages, but I think it's the simplest way and will be accessable with all browsers. My next step is to move the site to a basic host and make it visible to the search engines. I have a seperate post in the hosting section asking for advice on cheap hosts £50 and under. thanks - Paul (bit surprised that there is not control over the size of a page that you link to from within your site, perhaps the original html did not cater for this?)
