Sootle, A nice guide on SEO. It has all the basics. Your site seems like a nice search engine. Is it a search engine or a directory? I got the impression that the add url function is automated and accepts any web site that is submitted as long as there is a valid email address provided with it. How do you try to block automatic submissions? Regards, Peter
Sootle is a Search engine (not a web directory) , the automated service accepts all the websites except for p*rn sites, as I haven't built a filter for it yet for searching but, before indexing it, it checks the URL if it has any p*rn words in it , if it looks suspicous , it checks the whole site by going into it and checking the context. The submissions have been slow lately, but I soon clear the list down, so I can get some more submissions. Thanks for your intrest, Sid
Sootle, One way to make your search engine more popular is having a directory connected to it. Web sites in a directory will be spiderable by other search engines too. This fact gives directories extra value over search engines. Also this will make you receive many more submissions. Other ways to make sure that submissions are quality web sites is to insist on having a title and meta description tag. These are also easy to check with a filter. Yes, I am going to connect a directory to Sootle, what I'll do is connect our partner directory: http://www.click4choice.com to Sootle , and give those sites in that directory a higher value. Our partner directory has currently setup a co-brandable directory here: http://www.click4choice.com/sootle/search.cgi?query=Query , but thats just for the integration of the category matches to our reuslts, but with it there is also a directory, go to: http://www.click4choice.com/sootle/search.cgi?query=search and click on any category there, it will take you to the category in our design. This co-brand directory will soon move to a full brand directory using the Click4Choice database in our site, which will be accesable by Public for browsing etc. And as for the META tags, we can do that, but there are a lot of SPAMMERS out there that have an off-topic (ie. Porn, Adult) site(s) and fake their META tags to different topics and do SEO , so it looks like its a Query related site, when its actually a porn site. Thats why we check the URL first, and if it looks suspicious , download the context of the site and check for porn/adult related words. Thanks, Sid
