Which Shopping Cart do all use?
I would never survive without marketerschoice.com (aka: 1shoppingcart)
It has EVERYTHING...
Shopping Cart
Auto Responder
Reoccuring Capabilities
Affiliate Program
and more!!
Its the best!
Looked at their homepage and it looks a little $$$$$
Thanks....
Two I have familiarity with:
Miva Merchant: really not that great.
OSCommerce: very impressive for a free php program.
I would recommend OSCommerce.
$40.00/month for Basic..
and
$70.00/month for Premium..
If you add up the cost, plus the tech support is incredible (these guys will help you solve just about any problem out there they are incredible).. you'll find it truly isn't that much... I went thru HUNDREDS of different ones... including OSC...
The problems with a lot of shopping carts are:
1. Reoccuring Billing Support - If you have it very few carts support it or support it well..
2. Tech Support Period: [b:8d3b082ea4]SUCKS [/b:8d3b082ea4]for most companies..
3. Product intergration... if you have a few products .. just about any shopping cart will do.. but if you're like me and have 600+ and also constantly adding "custom" products/prices... its a pain in the a**
Then of course add up the cost of a good affiliate program and good autoresponder... and you'll see its truly not a lot of money...But its also not for everyone... If you have less then 30 products.. its of no use...
X-Cart is very good. I once set one up for a online store and it seemed great. I think it's one of the best out there and if I'm not mistaken it's $150. They also have different modules for them. One that seemed pretty interesting was affiliate program module which integrated into the shopping cart and gave you ability to let other sites do selling for you. That was another $100, i think. Most important thing is that you pay one time fee and that's it; no monthly payments, no nothing. Too bad I don't need to use it. I have it by the way so if anybody needs it...Nah, just kidding, I'm no software pirate  But I can sell you my half price :D
I use digiSHOP. Worked perfectly. I tried X-cart but it was very inflexible in regards to design, plus the admin area was a bit overwhelming. digiSHOP by far had the best looking admin area and I also could have an all flash site using their software. They use php/mysql.
SamJones brings up a good point. Some of these applications have so many features that they are overwhelming. Ease of use has to be a consideration too.
