I am still getting Public Services Ads ads 4 days on

Hello and welcome Tiger1 :welcome Add this to the top of your robots.txt: User-agent: Mediapartners-Google* Disallow: Make sure you have your keyword toward text at the top of your page. Make sure your title tag is correct and proper english with your keyword near the beginning. Have they ever shown an ad?

Hi Tom - thanks for replying. <<<<<< Add this to the top of your robots.txt: User-agent: Mediapartners-Google* Disallow: <<<<<<< I don't use robots.txt <<<<<<<< Make sure you have your keyword toward text at the top of your page. <<<<<<<<< Yes - and the site is No. 2 and 3 on Google for my 4 main keywords <<<<< Make sure your title tag is correct and proper english with your keyword near the beginning. <<<<<<< Yes <<<<< Have they ever shown an ad? <<<<< Not the pages on this 2nd site - only ever showed PSAs

There usually isn't that much to it, as you already know. Pretty much if you hit Refresh in your browser around 3 times, you get the right ad. Did you check for the GoogleBot MediaPartners in your access log? Maybe something is preventing access for the spider. If you have live time access to the log you should be able to see the spider spider the site almost at the same time as you check the page.

<<<<<<< Did you check for the GoogleBot MediaPartners in your access log? Maybe something is preventing access for the spider. <<<<<< Yes - though only 6 hits were recorded against Mediapartner. 6 Mediapartners-Google/2.1 (+http://www.googlebot.com/bot.html) <<<<<<<< If you have live time access to the log you should be able to see the spider spider the site almost at the same time as you check the page. <<<<<<<< Don't think I have real-time

Are there any "poison words" like 'death' on the pages? Google can't place a context sensitive ad on certain pages in this situation.

Hi again, <<<<<<<< If you have live time access to the log you should be able to see the spider spider the site almost at the same time as you check the page. <<<<<<<< Do you mean that mediapartner visits every time I refresh the page? If this is the case then it isn't happening - because this is the only log of mediapartner for the past 4 day! Unchanged at 6 hits. 6 Mediapartners-Google/2.1 (+http://www.googlebot.com/bot.html)

The spider should visit an unknown page on the first view. After that it will get crawled on a different schedule.

<<<<< Are there any "poison words" like 'death' on the pages? Google can't place a context sensitive ad on certain pages in this situation. <<<<<<< I thought about that too - it does have words like accident personal injury but I wouldn't have thought that these are poison words. I understand that death in itself isn't either ... but something like "voilent death" is likely to be. I was told that because I have made changes to the pages - and as these pages are now different to the pages indexed by google - it might take up to 4 weeks for a re-index and until that time PSAs could be served! Have you heard of this?

I had not. That seems unusual that it would take that long. Here is a course of action: Make a new page without any of the potential poison words like accident. Link to it from a page the spider already knows about. Hit refresh a few times and it should show the right ads. I can make a fresh page, hit refresh and see ads. They are also usually highly targeted.

Thanks for that suggestion. I'll try that tomorrow and let you know. It's getting pretty late here in England ... so thanks and bye for now.

Take care. Thanks for joining and don't be a stranger. Good luck with your Ads.

i think it is a poison word. they don't want to show an inappropriate ad on a page which has "accident".
