google offline?

OK, it's back online now. Did anyone else notice any downtime? Seemed to be for about 20 minutes between 11 and 12 am.

Is that Google UK you had the problem with? Seems others have been reporting the same thing.

I have been seeing problems with AdWords but that's about it. The main search is active.

[quote:4dec310e24="fourtimesfriendly"]Is that Google UK you had the problem with? BTW: AdAware ( LavaSoft) says the Google Toolbar is spyware, even if you turn off the extra features (which should, Google say, stop site view tracking). Does the recent stealth update change the toolbar to a program that does always spy on your browsing?

speaking of offline, I went to the f-w-r site (f-w-r.com) and it was down completely. I want to claim my prize! (see my signature)

i occassionally experience google downtiime but no one else seems to.

Still down for me too,, in the UK,, 1:13 am........, obviousley search from Yahoo is not working either.. Anyone know whats going on,, been 12 hours for me

I have heard several mentions of the problem in the UK before. Are you getting a Page Not Found?

Yeap,, be a couple of days now

I have never seen Google down myself.

Well,, its a weird problem then, I'm getting "the page cannot be displayed", Never had the problem before last Friday, but still present, and I get see the yahoo page, but can't do a search on ot as I get the same error. Is there anyone else in the UK getting this problem, and what type of connections are you using if you are, I'm on ADSL Broadband, with V21 being my provider. There must be a link here somewhere, and I have all the latest patches on IE6, with Win XP Professional..... Virus free, and apparently only pages affected are the ones using the google search engine. Andy

There are people in the US having the same type of problems (I saw this on another forum). They said send email to webmaster@google.com with the following info: the ip address that www.google.com resolves to - a traceroute/mtr (even better)

googlebot has been all over my log files. googlebot12, 13, 14, 15 and 31. still not seeing many backlinks, and PR is the same. not sure if i mentioned this, but i'm seeing PR in places that never had it.. what's going on??

Have sent all my logs,, I guess all we can do is wait..lol,, I was getting the following info,, would be interested to see what a working route is coming up with, perhaps I could go to the site Via the IP address if it turns out to be different. ping google.co.uk Pinging google.co.uk [216.239.39.100] with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 216.239.39.100: bytes=32 time=251ms TTL=48 Reply from 216.239.39.100: bytes=32 time=262ms TTL=48 Reply from 216.239.39.100: bytes=32 time=242ms TTL=48 Reply from 216.239.39.100: bytes=32 time=246ms TTL=48 Ping statistics for 216.239.39.100: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 242ms, Maximum = 262ms, Average = 250ms tracert google.co.uk Tracing route to google.co.uk [216.239.33.100] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 2 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.1.1 2 170 ms 169 ms 174 ms rt01.adsl.v21.co.uk [81.7.0.1] 3 167 ms 161 ms 163 ms gw213-130-145-97.as15444.net [213.130.145.97] 4 193 ms 189 ms 185 ms a2-0s100.cr1-telhe-lon-uk.as15444.net [213.130.1 38.65] 5 170 ms 172 ms 177 ms 213.130.138.18 6 198 ms 210 ms 198 ms 213.130.48.5 7 184 ms 190 ms 179 ms ge-0-3-0-4.r00.londen03.uk.bb.verio.net [213.130 .47.65] 8 251 ms 252 ms 279 ms p4-1-0-0.r81.nycmny01.us.bb.verio.net [129.250.4 .28] 9 217 ms 221 ms 216 ms p16-1-1-3.r20.nycmny01.us.bb.verio.net [129.250. 5.22] 10 254 ms 263 ms 260 ms p16-6-0-0.r00.nwrknj01.us.bb.verio.net [129.250. 2.216] 11 305 ms 283 ms 282 ms p16-0-1-1.r20.mlpsca01.us.bb.verio.net [129.250. 5.112] 12 321 ms 316 ms 327 ms p16-1-1-0.r20.snjsca04.us.bb.verio.net [129.250. 5.9] 13 333 ms 314 ms 299 ms ge-1-1.a01.snjsca04.us.ra.verio.net [129.250.31. 82] 14 310 ms 298 ms 305 ms 128.241.219.18 15 * * * Request timed out. 16 * * * Request timed out. 17 * * * Request timed out. 18 * * * Request timed out. 19 370 ms 342 ms 323 ms www.google.com [216.239.33.100] Trace complete.

i'm in the US. the www.google.co.uk resolves to the same address as the one you have, but the page displays okay for me.

Its a strange one then............. I can get froogle.google.com , but not www.google.com

have you checked the computer for spyware?

Not even gonna answer that one............ Something unusual that is happening is although the IP address on the tracrt id resolving google to [216.239.33.100] when I look in the browser bar in the corner its says its opening a page at [64.191.59.85] SO, it appears somewhere along the line the A record is corrupt as if I type www.google.co.uk , it doesn't come up, but if I type the IP address 216.239.33.100 it opens straight away, I believe that perhaps the Tracert to google.co.uk is resolving on a cname or MX record somewhere, but fails when trying to resolve a www.

Google changed their DNS to Akaima about a week ago, so they definitely started using CNAMES. www.Google.akadns.net

that link works, stranger and stranger

From your command prompt type: ipconfig /flushdns See if that helps.

Good Plan,,, didn't know that one,,, however,, didn't work :(

Based on process of elimination, looks like your provider's DNS has cached the wrong IP.

mmhhh,, I've written to them but as usual deny everything

They may yet prove blameless. Maybe Google has the TTL set to a very high value and the servers are still on the old IP.

not affecting everyone in the uk though, and i am on broaband

I tend to blame them. For www.google.co.uk I get this address: 216.239.37.99 That also resolves to www.google.akadns.net. Worse comes to worse, you can use that address, but it doesn't really explain why you'd have to. I'd be interesting in hearing Google's response, if they give you one :)

Maybe,, but I can't get to .co.uk or .com unless I go by IP address...... Looks like a propagation fault somewhere along the line...
