Depending on how closely related the sites are will depend on how much alike you want them to be... Colors you want completely different... Layouts should be at least slightly different if not dramatically different... again depending on how closely related the sites are... If you want them "branded" to be yours... you want something similar...but not exact... If you use exact sites you run into people not bothering to look at your different sites.. "Oh I've already been here" and they don't even look to see if the content is different...
Thanks guys for all your help. Have another favor to ask... I've been thinking hard  about a good name for my new website. It will do the same thing as stormex - pay-per-lead services for designers. Unfortunately, under the circumstances I'm not working at stormex anymore  but instead I'm starting my own thing :) Hey, what can I say, I'm young, I got time and energy to figure out what works and what doesn't and move from place to place...God I loved that name - Stormex. We'll things change and now I got to figure out something new that would sound as good as stormex. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I will still work hard to provide the best possible services for web designers, you can most definitely count on me  I will let you guys know my new contact info and site as soon as it's ready. Meanwhile any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Andrey
i assume you are looking for more of a branding name then something like find-web-design-leads.com? you may want to use some of the rules of company naming techiques. in the last few years this market has gotten huge. they usually use made up latin words like Altria or totally made up words like Lexus. we can probably make up a new word. you are going to have to change your nickname too, huh?
Yep, nickname will have to go  Hey, nickname goes but I'm still here 8) I already have some names in mind. I do not need name for the whole network but I hate when people call their sites like web-designer-leads.com or find-web-designer.com. Here are some of the names I came up with so far: DesignVelocity.com eBooster.net EZDeveloper.net Let me know what you think Andrey
well sorry to learn of your un- i mean re-employment! actually i like those names! i assume they are available? designvelocity is pretty cool. it means there is some speed and force behind the design. it has sort of an edgy feel to it.
Yep, they are all available. Those that are .net have their .com either for sale or not working (for some reason).
Those are definitely decent names. For sure you want a brandable name and not a keyword domain. Something people will remember and type in the address bar. I guess I will have to figure out how to edit user names so you don't lose your post count :)
That would be great Tom. I was just about to ask you if you could do it. Thanks. What do you think about sites in the network, should they look the same or can they be different? Andrey
I think they can be different. Let's face it. People get bored easily. If they are clicking from one subdomain or domain to another one, they probably will more happy to see some sort of diversity, especially if the subject matter is diverse.
I like the DesignVelocity one as well.. sounds "cool" and "powerful" ... If the .com is not available.. I highly recommend not going near it... .net, .biz, .org, etc.. is a very hard business to run... People have the .com on their brains, and will automatically type that even when they know it isn't right... and you can lose business (word of mouth, vocal advertising, and "i saw an ad the other day" business)... (Please don't take offense Tom.. it seems to works well for you.. but for the type of business Andrey is looking at.. I personally believe it will hurt him... I have more time then I can count when typing in yours, even typed .com) designvelocity.com is available...i suggest if this is high up on your list.. get it NOW.... if you want to check out other names, and don't want to have to buy them immediately .. try using our search feature... http://whois.fpworld.com/ it is run, thanks to my techs, on a server that the domain hogs don't monitor... which means ifyou check something, chances are it wont disappear the next day... which has happened to me a billion times.... :) Congrats on your new adventure... I will support you in any way possible! Everything happens for a reason.. guess this is why I never had the chance to join Stormex... without you, I never would have bothered! :)
Thank you so much, Andrea. As I said previously I won't let designers down  You make a lot of sense with the whole .net issue. I will most definitely go ahead and get designvelocity.com if I don't come up with something better. Thanks again. Andrey
Hello everybody Please congratulate the proud owner of DesignVelocity.com :) :) :) I sure hope it is going to work out :? ...I'll make sure it does  P.S. Tom if you figure out how to change my name without me re-registering please change it to DesignVelocity. If you can't then I'll just open new account. Thanks. Andrey
congrats on your new name!
Congrats on your new name!! :) I like it!
