Make them come back? How?

*cont from last post* btw, what do YOU personally like in a website's content that you would come to see more often?

A newsletter is never a bad idea to drive traffic back to your website, if you are getting Email addresses from your visitors.. I think that many times, people "stumble" upon websites and don't remember how they found it, or how to get back, so a Newsletter with a bit of good information (including your URL) may build up some return visits..

Keeping fresh "on-topic" content is pretty important. I personally like pages that load quickly, do not have a giant 'flash" intro, and ones that are fairly easy to navigate.. HTH

How do you create a free newsletter, or can you? Also, do people really sign up for those?

A lot of websites seem to pop- up/under, to give the viewer an opportunity to sign up for newsletters etc. Pretty much all websites that are "membership" type, like this one will require a valid Email address in order to join. Do you know where/what your visitors do when they get to your website?

you can get a free mailing list manager (mlm) in php that will support 100,000 emails easily. people will definitely sign up for them. as long as they are of a subject that people are interested in and you know a lot about. if you have a passion about a subject it makes your writing more interesting. definitely a good low cost move to add a newsletter to a website.

cool, so basically, I could point out new games on my site and others, and review them. I could point people in the direction of online games for their own sites, and just fun games to play. Maybe, game of the week/month? How does that sound to you guys? Maybe you wouldn't personally enjoy it, but think it is something people would sign up for?

I'm sure that it would. If you have an audience on topic about games and gaming, it wouldn't be a problem. People are always going to want more information, but if they don't the option to "unsubscribe" should always be given and honored.

http://www.rickysworld.net/mailist.html I did it. I used bravenet because I was to lazy to do all the script stuff. :) As you can see, unsubscribing is easy. Thank you guys for the idea!

Glad that it's working out for you. Keep us posted how it works out!

have you had any return visitors since your mailing RickyJo?

I haven't sent it yet. I want a few more sign ups before I send that newsletter. I have written it though. Thanks for asking!

Be sure to let us know :)

I just have to somehow get people to sign up, the text links aren't working...i don't wanna use pop ups though....?? *sigh* I've gotten one person to sign up besides just friends who go there anyway.... back to the trafic issue. Grargh. :( Maybe i can send my letter and get one person to come back

I subscribed to your newsletter. It sent me a confirmation Email with a link back to your website. Are you planning on sending newsletters with news, info, etc. or just a link back?

oh it will have news mostly on webgames plus it will have website news, and a misc section for anything that's way cool, but maybe off the topic.

The newsletter has been sent, what do you think feathers? Does it look allright? Any ideas on how to improve it? Learn anything about what gamer people do and where they go? Oh BTW I meant what i said about the game maker, I made a decent game in an hour o.o you people should check it out, it comes with very nice example games too.

:( Haven't got it.. Resend?

shoot. Wonder what I did wrong... it said it could take a few hours or even longer. *checks email* I got it...in my junk mail folder and from my own email address ^-^;;.

Thats not too good. It registered me fine, sent an email immediately. Links worked.. I will be happy to take a look at your Newsletter if you can get it sent out!

It sent it to me, and I don't want to send it again...i mean, what if everybody else got it? You sure the e-mail address was right? *sigh* Oh, I'll check my brother's email, I mean, I didn't find out his password or anything *looks around*. ::checking email...:: Oh my word, he did not get it either.... I know he signed up for it. ::agast:: I'll have to try it again.
