Need Help - google

hi melanie :welcome did you make any changes to your dns? did your web host recently announce any changes? are you with godaddy?

Hi. No, I haven't changed any DNS. And, I haven't gotten anything from my host about any changes. However, I just did another search of Google and my Angelfire pages aren't even listed any more at all. I also checked my mother's unrelated personal pages on Angelfire and her pages are no longer listed either. I got my domain a few years ago from MyDomains.com My webpages are hosted on Angelfire.com Thank you. MelanieJK

I guess I'm going to have to pay for some traffic (Overture). And, wait until the web site is re-indexed by Google. But, what if it stays the same. Is there something I should do to the website, so it doesn't happen again? I used to be on the first page of results for: berks county genealogy and pennsylvania genealogists Now, I can't even find my listing for any keywords on the first 6 pages at least. -Melaniejk Googlewacked

something definitely seems wrong. the blank-ignore page exists! it even has page rank. one thing i noticed. a search for a robots.txt does a weird re-direct that might leave a robot hanging. i would probably add a normal robots.txt in the main directory. just a typical one like: [code:1:e4756bd5fa] User-agent: * Disallow: /cgi-bin [/code:1:e4756bd5fa]

The second wave of filters, as I understand it is being specificly aimed at small businesses according to http://www.google-watch.org/scraper.html. All of our sites (all selling different products) had the same problem you did. I understand from someone who has asked not to be named that works in the optimization industry that they are hoping to drive up their adwords sales. We have lost a lot of traffic in one short weekend and we are not sure what to do next. If you get any good information, please let us know!

that site is a little over the top. what phrases did you optimize for? are you still alive at all or are you out of the top 1000? i know it sucks but change your search preferences to 100 and go through until you see if you're in the top 1000.

Easier way to see what ranking you are in google when you have to go past 4-5 pages is: The Free Google Monitor.. can't remember the site.. but I'll find it around here somewheres... I lived on that thing when Florida Filter wiped me out....

You are correct, that ite is a little over the top but ittells you where you would be without the new filter. I use a reporter, I know I have not been banned, but I will have to search top 1000

Actually.. there are the programs that show you where you would be -filter since google disabled that feature.. but this one tells you live and in color exactly what number/page you are in real life... if you can be found at all for that matter I would search google's first 100 pages (anything beyond that was a waste for me)... and it would say... you're number 750 or site not found... you do need to search for both ... http://www.sitehere.com and http://sitehere.com .. because sometimes google picks and chooses www vs no www

I apologize for previous typo's. I agree it is a waste, but I have webposition running a report for me just so I know if I have been banned. must find a way to move on. We have used position tech to add some new pages to inktomi and it has made up for the traffic and sales have gone up (so far).

I wouldn't panic just yet. Sometimes these re-shufflings go away fast. If this many sites are affected you will see them lighten the filter.
