:welcome asdfasdf Let's start from the beginning. What is the focus of the website? From navigation I figured it has to be music related. You need to develop a theme depending on the type of site this is. For example, you will never design corporate style site for a rock band. :lol: Let us know the direction the site is going to be working in and we will gladly help you.
It is going to be a trance-music site, but also a patch and sample resource for Novation synthesizers (it'll have a free database of files for similar trance artists). I have to say unfortunately that my music is better than my web design skills.
:welcome :) Ok... Maybe its just me or your currently making changes.. but I can only see general layout and a dropdown box.... From the layout I see alone... You seem to be doing very well! some minor changes are needed.. but its hard to say what without more on the site itself... I like the blue colors... Its perfect for a music site.. very soothing and warm.. even then pattern in the background is good especially for trance music... The semi-invisable image on the dark blue is excellent.. but if you are going to do that.. make sure the image is at least semi recognizable.. its very hard to tell what it is.. the effect you want to create with that is working, but you need to make sure when their subconcious picks it up it makes them think of the subject you are focusing on... (hope that makes sense)..
Yeah, making some changes- I had a few minutes free so I decided to make this general layout. There are obviously problems with the code, transparencies (on the small gif at the bottom), etc. that I'll have to go fix later. Point taken on the blue strip. I could make that picture a little smaller so you can see more- or add some effects or something. I'll probably have my logo smack down there anyway, so maybe I won't need to mess with it much. We'll see, but thanks a lot for pointing that out. Since you have an eye for design- do you think the "sound on" gif is too noticable? Even if I fix the transparency, maybe it should be the same color as the background? I thought I'd try it- break some rules- but it kinda sticks out. So, leave it or replace it?
It's hard to answer that question without seeing the "meat" of the site... right now it sticks out like a sore thumb... but once you add content and other things to the site, that could change.... I say leave it for now and ask me again when you put more inside! :)
Thanks. If it sticks out now, it'll be just as bad later- I'm getting rid of it and moving on- I'll see what I come up with tonight. I think I'll go with something much simpler and maybe the same color as the background. I still haven't decided to think about how to organize my content- partially because I'm not sure how much stuff I'll have to accommodate- other artists have considered contributing, but have not gotten back to me. They're all much more popular than myself, and it would be awesome to get some of their stuff exclusively on my site- attract visitors- and in turn get my name out there. ...and one has some design ideas of his own, so hopefully he'll be able to work with this... It should be pretty easy to leave expansion room... you have a very simple, clean layout/design right now... .I wouldn't worry to much... just add it as they come... Good luck and let us know when to check it out again!! :)
