keyword doorway pages

Well doorway pages shouldn't be the focus on the search engines..I am assuming that your doorway is due to frames??... when dealing with doorway pages your best bet is to index.html - Doorway (without frames) welcome.htm - Main keyword, focused and optimized page... and the one that you do all your inbound linking too... Google and others WILL pick up the main index page and follow the others from there... but its not that easy to optimize a "doorway" page unless you are willing to put enough content on it to make it "optimized".. Thats what I would do .. if I ABSOLUTELY couldn't live without frames... I still hold to my prior comment in the other discussion.. if its for frames.. I say skip them and go for just straight pages... but thats me.... HOWEVER .. If we are talking adult content site.. its a pain in the a** and you are better off just doing what everyone else does... and cross your fingers.. you can't link to inside pages without violating the "law" in most states... and you can't put the "insider" content without violating the same law....

you should name as many pages after keywords as you can. if you target 2 or 3 word phrases, make sure to name your pages accordingly. keyword1-keyword2-keyword3.html then make sure those pages have a link from the main site. that is good practice that you should follow and what it will create are doorway pages that will never get banned because they're on topic.

Guys my main problem is I use a remote access from anywhere service to update my website. I have to do alot to the site because I do all of the work on it myself and I have about 170 pages now and have about 60 more at this time that are waiting to go up and more coming in every 5 minutes... hence the decision to go with the remote access service. It has its benifits...I have the option to get into my source html and do things or if Im in a hurry i can use the wysiwyg and copy and paste alot of my text and images and lay it out and be done. My website is a site that is constantly changing an has constent additions... so i choose since I could access this service from anywheres ...being im a fireman it would grant me the capability of logging on from the station in my periods of down time and keep caught up. Now that ya know the background....and now that im getting into optimization of my site...it seems Ive found my only drawback from using this particular service. ALL of the pages I create are randomly given a numbered name...so instead of ww.widget.com/redwidgets.html.......I get ww.widget.com/123.html. So you see the problem for me not being able to name my own pages and using keywords to do so. I asked if there was anything I could do to fix this and they said there wasnt it was just the way their system works.Ive been told that there are ways to get around this and that it shouldnt really affect the way im being indexed but will affect my PR which we can overcome by inbound links not to worry about it. Do you guys think the numbered pages have anything to do with the way and the level of pages that are being crawled? Or is it totally a structure problem? Take a look at the structure....book-a-hunt.com and tell me what ya think if ya get a chance. Thanks again.....you two are lifesavers! Hawg p.s. is the numbered pages hang up a big enough deal for me to consider taking the time and rebuilding a site using my Frontpage and come up with a new site or do you think I CAN overcome it with inbound links to highten my PR? Im not sure whats going to come into play with having numbered pages versus keyword named pages.

You need to consider moving servers in my opinion... Eventually your pages will stand on their own.. but page name is a BIG deal... and you need them named with keywords.. its how google seems to "read" their validity in some cases... I have a HUGE client, who is both a business owner and fireman.. and he gains access to our server thru frontpage without a single problem from the station... any server with any stability should allow that... It seems that using frontpage will give the ability to change numerous pages quickly and easily... Don't tie yourself down to a server that forces you certain page names... I don't know that much about servers and sinces its 2am here I can't ask my techs .. but it seems to me if its forcing page names, is it possibly adding other things in the code that could hurt you??? *shrug* one of the other guys will need to answer that one... but I do know from experience that page names are VERY VERY important.. it changed my page rank and google ranking numbers completely when we fixed page names..

Normally what you describe wouldn't be a problem, except in the case of SEO. As FPWorld said, page names matter a lot. One of the quickest ways to gain rankings, especially on less competitive keyphrases is to have the pages named after them.

Will do....I already in the process of switching everything over to Frontpage. You guys wouldnt happen to be able to suggest a nice inexpensive hosting company that has unrestricted number of pages I can have huh? And also...it's not gonna hurt me with the SE's for making a huge change and having the same URL and switching servers huh? Reason being is I know my site is a little image heavy also.( Ive got some flash graphics on the top of each page..before I switch servers to a new hosting company..im gonna lighten the load and make the look a little simpler lil too.

you won't lose any pagerank making the switch. most web hosts shouldn't care how many pages you have. they give you a size limit and thats it.

Do any of your pages currently have PR?? ie: 123.htm?? If they do.. you may lose page rank for a while... if you don't then you are doing it at the right time... Good luck with your search and redesign..

My home page which is the only named page..." home" is only a 3....the rest are a 1 if anything. im not losing much i dont think.

Great.. then at least you will not be injured.. anything below a 3 means you wont lose anything ... Hopefully the page names, etc.. will give you a jump start into a higher PR.. make sure you go with keyworddensity as well..

if im naming a page for instance ww.widgets.com/ texasredwidgets.htm does it hurt or help to seperate the names such as ww.widgets.com/texas-red-widgets.htm ?

You have to use the -. keyword-keyword.html Google won't read the _.

So the correct method would be "ww.widgets.com/texas-red-widgets.htm" Not "ww.widgets.com/texas_red_widgets.htm" ? I hope so thats what im doing...hehehehe

You got it right. That alone will make a big difference in your ranking.
