Musician Website

There are similar sites out there, but I've yet to come across a really good one. Part of the problem with the ones I've seen is that there is so much outdated material... perhaps a 3-month limit on any one posting would help (with option to renew upon request?). All I know is I live in Tucson, which has over 800,000 people, and I can't find a stinkin' keyboard player. You would think there would be a resource on the net that could solve this dilemma in no time! Great idea! :D

it's a good idea. you would have to write a nice custom application with a good database and it could be very valuable. almost all musicians are small independents and do not have much representation. i say go for it.

Thanks. Yes, I think I know enough PHP to be able to write something for it, and if I can't figure something out, it's easy enough to look tutorials up. lol I feel your pain PrimeMover! use php and mysql. that way it will work on most servers. make the system functional. it needs their name, their music specialty, their location. all of these fields can be queried by the php script. this could be very useful for people to find each other.

Yea thats what I had in mind. Actually once ya think about it, it really isn't as complicated as you would think. Thanks again for suggestions. As soon as I have some time, I will get started one it, and put it on my domain, and then would a few of you mind beta testing it a bit? If I do it that is. Thanks Freddy

The only thing would be building a big enough data base, if you could....that would be really cool. I love music, it's my favorite thing, even more than computers.

That is a good idea. With so many musicians out there it would indeed be a "labor of love" You could also get other people to help, I think music is something that everyone enjoys, so the audience would be humongous! Good luck to you whatever you decide to do..

The main way to populate the database is to have musicians enter their contact info. Then you promote the site two ways: 1) To the musicians who are looking for work 2) To the people looking for musicians It's win-win for them.

Probably. But probably not for a month or two. Just then I'll have a little more time on my hands. But I definatly think that I will do it! :)

doesn't cost that much to try new websites. a few bucks for the domain and your time.
