Not sure about Java..

For search engine optimization purposes, it is best to include the scripting in a seperate file. It makes a huge difference, therefore it must be done. Tell your tech guy to quit being lazy. The difference in traffic could be big.

if you are rebuilding the whole thing pay close attention to the link structure. make sure every internal link has very clear anchor text like "Front Page Template", etc. these internal links help get high search placement.

Which is more important.. Internal or External??? I've always been slightly confused on those..

they are both equally important. and most important is that they are consistent. the links from in and outside of a domain should point to the exact same page with the same anchor text. so if you have a "Link to Us" page with instructions, make it easy for your link partners to copy and paste the info as you want it.

So I need to make sure that they are all for example... If a company is going to link into us .. and their website is a "travel" group... Send them linking to my keyword rich travel page.. not "home" right?

that would be the best way to do it. its great to have individual links to individual pages. that will boost the PR of the page and it helps "anchor" it with the preferred key words. the more specific the better is always the rule.

I will try and make sure to follow that rule... But with over 500 pages that we are starting with .. it wont be easy...

since you have 500 pages make sure every page has a link back to the main page. it will give the main page good PR.

Ok.. I can do that, that is easy... But here is a question.. When submitting to the search engines... You want to submit the most obvious pages, INDEX and SITEMAP... But do you think there should be more submitted, especially with a site this size???

there is no reason at all to submit other pages than the index. all spiders will eventually find ALL of your pages anyway. if the sitemap is found, over time all pages will get in. :lol:
