Tired of the Cold Weather
The cold weather is tough to take after awhile. I'm in a moderate weather place now. Not too cold and not too hot. Suits me fine.
i laugh at the cold!
hahahahahahaahhahahah!
I agree! We had snowflakes coming down yesterday but it didn't amount to anything (thank goodness!). We have just a tiny bit of snow left on the lawns but we don't dare put the snow shovels away cause soon as we do, we'll get another snowstorm!
I'm in Canada (igloo land) :)
If you can't take the snow anymore t means you're getting old! Time to move to Miami.
Oh, that means I was old when I was 18
I am really looking forward to some sunshine and heat for real.
I hear Las Vegas is HOT right now..
It would be excellent to swim instead of shiver :)
Or Canada is just too friggin cold.
41 degrees and drizzling rain is hardly awe-inspiring. But I guess I can take it because at least it isn't below freezing.
i am moving to negril jamaica soon. i can use my laptop fromt there with a wifi connection.
i will still log in from there and say hello to the little people.
I live in Cape Town, South Africa, and I have never seen snow in my life... The coldest it gets here is 57 F. And you can be absolutely sure that we will NEVER have a white Chrsitmas here... :P
We have two oceans to swim in, a mountain in the back yard.. Yes, summertime.. amd the living is easy...
And the only lion I have seen was on National Geographic..
Sounds nice, Diabolique!
Especially the part about the two oceans! How do you decide which ocean to go to?
There is the Atlantic Ocean, which is the cold one. But it has the best beaches.. acres of pure white sand... clear water.. you get the picture. It s perfect for sunning the bod by or snorkeling. Then there's the Indian Ocean which is much warmer, a tropical ocean. Its favoured by surfers and windsurfers, but that side is a tad windy some days. Table Mountain protects the Atlantic Ocean side, so hardly any wind there. And, believe this or not, the two oceans collide off a place called Cape Point, leaving a permanent wave which stretches out as far as the eye can into the sea.
Wow! I'd really like to see the two oceans meet. That sounds like quite a place to see.
I'm definitely a fan of the Atlantic, and you just can't beat white sand beaches.
I think South Africa is probably one of the most affordable places for a holiday for an American or an Englishman. Our currency is 6.4 to the dollar, so you get value for money. And hey, you dont pay for the sunshine!
I think we take this place for granted here. And I am not idly blowing the horn of Cape Town. If you have the time, do a search on Google for Camps Bay, South Africa, and Blaawberg, South Africa. The official Blaawberg site has a webcam showing what the weather is like right now.
Thanks for the tips. It's always great to learn about a new vacation spot.
How is the political climate, etc? Do South Africans like Americans?
the demographics of South Africa makes it a nation where one train of thought will never take hold and sway everyone. Even here, there are people who still consider Nelson Mandela to be a terrorist. They are in the minority, but thats the way they think. In the last few years, there been an anti-American sentiment, predictably from the Muslim population. But they are very much in the minority. For most, people just want to get on with their lives. The invasion of Iraq got lots of people irate, but thats died down substantially since the initial blast. As far as I am aware, no American has ever been attacke, tourists are treated brilliantly because thousands of jobs depend on it.
do any of the diamond mines have tours?
i love learning about other countries!
Thanks for the info. Definitely sounds like a great place.
