my 3 main search terms to have that would be the best and what im shooting for are.. hunting deer hunting turkey hunting It's kind of tough though..because I am set up to cover every aspect of hunting....so I think it's tough for me to pick out those 3 terms and design everything around them. Anyhow..if I could pick which 3 terms to be number one on...it would be those..just because they are the most highly searched. Im sure it would be tough to get back on the first page when searching "hunting" ...im serious when im saying I probably get 4-5 hits from search engines a week. Im pushing 800 unique visiters this month and sitting on 15307 page views and about 62,000 hits ...I guess from word of mouth. I'll take any help I can get!!!! Thanks Web

Those are the top 50 key phrases according to WordTracker. How many of theses pages have you optimized for? I'll take a look at your pages and post some suggestions lately. The one word one would be tough. It would also be useless. One word searches are for neanderthals. They aren't looking for any thing and won't convert into anything else, but the rest of the phrases should rank. Do a reality check through these phrases. If you can rank for 5 or so out the top 10, your traffic will go right up. I'll take a look and post some thoughts later.
Thats a good list.... web...I probably cover 3 quarters of those terms on my website. Im just not sure if Im not doing it right. hawg
deer hunting, duck hunting, texas hunting leases, turkey hunting, elk hunting are actually specific pages in my website. Maybe I need to take those pages and really build on them. Your the expert...i'll do what you say hehe.
Okay. Some interesting observations. You have 107 pages indexed in Google, so that is good news. But the pages don't appear in the Top 1000 results for phrases like "new mexico hog hunting", even though your page is named correctly. One thing I think you need to do immediatedly is add meta description and meta keywords tags. Keep them simple like: [code:1:689b03064b] <meta name="description" content="New Mexico Hog Hunting. If you're hunting for Hogs, New Mexico is the place to be." <meta name="keywords" content="new mexico hog hunting, hogs, hunters, hunting" [/code:1:689b03064b] Those will be helpful in search engines besides Google. I think you did a very good job of the site layout. It is good SEO practice. Add the meta tags one by one. You also only have one backlink visible. Have you started a link campaign?
A fairly new but excellent resource for link building can be found here. They also have a nice listing of directories where you can add your site. Pretty cool.
Web...Ive got a few pretty good pr 6 and 5's that ive had for several months now...Im not sure why they never show up....apparently they are if im a PR4 but..when I use the google link: tool it shows nothing. So you think when I add the meta tags to all my pages...that will help me get better placement? Ive got a few of my guys on a link campaign started here here yesterday. Im going to get started on the meta descriptions right away...hopefully that will help. Do you think Title, Description, and Keyword tags will be good enough? or do i need to use any others also? Let me know if you see anything else I can do. Thanks a MILLION WEB! Raven..Im going to check into your info too. thanks! hawg
Hello Hawg, Here's some on page optimization for you to add: Add H1 tags to the pages. Use the same phrase as the page name. Start the first paragraph of the page with the phrase. Put the phrase on the page once in bold. That should help a good bit.
Got it..thanks web
One last thing... maybe a stupid question.... I still need to put meta tags on all my pages right ? What Im getting at...is your telling me I need to insert both meta tags and h1 tags.... make the h1 tag whatever my page name is ( keyword phrase)... start my document off with that phrase..... use the phrase somewheres else in the text using bold font. Im making sure I got it right before I start. I really really appreciate your help!! Hawg
Ok web here's a copy of the tags I have in my head section: META NAME="robots" CONTENT="all"> META NAME="title" CONTENT="Elk Hunting with Action Adventures"> META NAME="description" CONTENT="Elk Hunting and Big Game Hunting Outfitter."> META NAME="keywords" CONTENT="elk hunting, action adventures, elk, hunting, hunters, big game hunting"> Is that correct? Ok where do I put the h1 tags at? Im not sure where it goes in the html? Im thinking maybe it can go anywheres but not sure. If you need to see the page its http://www.book-a-hunt.com/action-adventures.htm Thanks again.
you got that right so far. put those on each page and make them individualized. h1 is the top header on every page. it is usually a large font. you can always adjust the font later (use css or just the font tag)
is it ok if the h1 tag is in a table? I have atable for a title like that on alot of my pages? Also..how to I adjust the font size? Thanks edwin.
Ok..edwin or web... Ive added the h1 tag into my top table across the top of my page. Im hoping its ok to have it in a table for cosmetic purposes...this is what the code looks like.... the only question I have is it's not the first code in my body..... i have a bunch of applet stuff for my hover buttons... theres a bunch of : param name = "blah blah blah" then first thing after that is: p align="center">&</p> div align="left"> <table border="1" width="759" height="1"> <tr> <td width="759" height="74" align="left" bgcolor="#C3B596" colspan="2"> <h1>Elk Hunting - Action Adventures</h1> </td> </tr> <tr> It looks right..but I hope its in the right spot. check it out at http://www.book-a-hunt.com/action-adventures.htm and tell me if it is correct if ya don't mind. This is the best website on the net! Hawg
yep thats perfect! now lets think about how google is seeing this page. they see the title, the h1 tags, the meta tags, and the page itself all mention the same phrases. google can be very sure that the page is about elk hunting! your on-page optimization looks good. now as the pages age a few weeks in the index, you should start to see them ranking. and yes this is the best website out there and when you start getting a bunch of traffic from google you will really be happy :)
Thanks so much edwin .. its tough learning as I go being it's my first site. Ive said this before and i'll say it again. There i seriously no way I could have gotten anywheres close without you guys here for reference!!!!! This is by far the most useful website on the internet! Hawg
its cool to help people. then when you rank, you can help others :) i really think your pages will rank well. i think its just a matter of the index settling in in the next few weeks.
Give it a few days and then you can check some of your positions. http://www.googlerankings.com Check that site. It can search up to the first 1000. The pages should start appearing in the Top 1000 and then move up. I think the pages are all very fresh but they should start winning positions soon.
Thanks Web...you rock!
