Newbie Needs Help....

mhouse ... dont' panic. It sounds to me like for some reason it isnt storing your images into your web directory. Reason being it's working on your computer in preview is because it's pulling them off your system. You need to figure out how to make sure your images after uploaded are pointing to your image directory on the server. That way when someone opens your website..it takes the pictures from the image directory on the server and isnt looking for them in your particular folder on your home computer. I run into problems like this whenever I use Frontpage and I find by renaming my image files ( or atleast the ones that arent loading up)it usually fixes the problem. Make sure you have no images named the same thing. I try to make sure all my images are uniquely named with both letters and numbers if I have more than one similar image. Say..if i have several pictures for "big red widgets" I name them like "brw1.jpg, brw2.jpg, brw3.jpg " and so on. Try that and attempt to re-publish your site and go from there. It's a good starting point. Also take a look at your settings and make sure your ftp properties are pointing to the correct places. One more thing..make sure your image files have an extension such as .gif or .jpg that your particular setup will except. I tried to take a look at your link but it says i was forbiden. Hope this helps....post back here if it doesnt..there are alot of helpful people on here alot more knowledgable than me....wasnt long ago and i was asking questions just like you. This forum is the best source for help from some really nice people. Be sure and ask any questions you have here. Hawg

also make sure the path names to the files are right. i don't see a path name just the broken x.

Maybe I need to take a course or something cause I lost already.... :?

You can do it..... right click on one of your pictures in your web-editing program and choose properties. Then make sure the path is whatever the path is to your image directory on-line. So ..say your keeping all your images in a folder called pictures on your desktop.... make sure the path name isnt something like "c:/desktop/pictures/picture1.jpg" it needs to be something like ..."/images/picture1.jpg" or whatever your image directory is called on-line. hawg

Yeah, make sure everything is "/directory/filename.gif" or something along those lines. The actual location of the file must agree with with the link to the file. If they do not agree, the image will appear broken. That is the red X in most browsers.

the reason your contact page isn't showing up is because you have the extension wrong. Change the link to ".html" instead of ".htm" and that page will work. (click on the link and scroll to the end inserting an "l" to the back of the ".htm" to see what i'm talking about). The product lines page is probably misnamed. I can't find it. The pictures probably just need a correct path like others have said.

whatever you do don't give up :!: you seem to have the making of what could be a very nice website. keep the faith and take on the advice given above. all it needs is a bit of tweeking
