do you have a mpeg4 player installed? does it open for you or prompt you?

[quote:c7af147df4="edwin"]do you have a mpeg4 player installed? does it open for you or prompt you?[/quote:c7af147df4] no well i just installed quicktime on my PC today as the clip was created on my G5 using compressor. when i click it plays no bother

That should be all you need to do. people with the player installed can see the video no problem now. The player does all the work.

so your saying this is ok www.oneillfeedsystems.com/testpage for me seems to be downloading the whole clip first and it's doing it within the browser. some clips aren't working right now...

Actually there is a bit more to it than that. Check out this Tutorial on Streaming You basically have to add a specialized extension and add a "hint track".

yeah i was think there was more

i am gonna try this soon so we have the answer. we need a tutorial on this one.

i think i did hint it then again maybe not i did it all in compressor on my mac and used MPEG-4 and i think i selected hint track. may go back and and do it .mov i'm on PC now so i can't redo it, need to get some cd's i got somewhere that the url for a streaming file is rtsp://servername/filename.mov

.mov is for the quicktime movies i believe. .ram is for the real world player files.

.rm Real Player

just a step by step so the next guy who comes along gets the answer.

yeah everything i have looked up doesn't tell what i want i know

this is were i'm at I took the clips from final cut pro4 and compressed them using compressor as MPEG-4 I think for streaming. I then burned them on to CD cos i do all my internet work on PC. I uploaded them to my server and put them ere www.oneillfeedsystems.com/testpage but when i clicked the files it seemed to download the file first (some don't work) why are they not streaming is it hinting or movierefpoint or something that is missing?

someone said this was streaming... is it http://www.oneillfeedsystems.com/videotestpage

it says that the audio plugin isn't found and promptly begins streaming after i hit ok. ^-^ go figure ... EDIT: at least it loads really fast, i dont know if it is actually streaming correctly or not. (fill me in, streaming is when it plays without fully loading first right?)

yeah thats it. cos it seems to be fully loaded everytime I hit it but maybe thats because i've played it so much, might check it out on a different computer. whats this about the audio?

it says that the data plug in requested did not download succesfully.

right got all the clips on now www.oneillfeedsystems.com/video still don't know if it is working right but anyway... oh and the java links don't work

i don't think their streaming ...are they. but what the hell anyway they'll do for now

it installed quick time and then it just sits there with the quick time logo. even if pull it down nothing happens

yeah i think it downloads the clip first... how long did you wait. everytime i go to a clip it's there straight away :?

a couple minutes. ill try it again later and report back

do i might try a different computer or something here is the code i used [code:1:a959ece86f]<object width="240" height="196" classid="clsid:02BF25D5-8C17-4B23-BC80-D3488ABDDC6B" codebase="http://www.apple.com/qtactivex/qtplugin.cab"> <param name="src" value="http://oneillfeedsystems.com/video/intro.mp4"> <param name="controller" value="true"> <param name="autoplay" value="false"> <embed src=" http://oneillfeedsystems.com/video/intro.mp4" width="240" height="196" autoplay="false" controller="true" pluginspage="http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/"> </embed> </object>[/code:1:a959ece86f]

it works well on my computer, loading of the first movie was like, 3 seconds. i have DSL but it's [my internet connection] slow considering.

yeah it does seem to download first rather than stream ...but if it's working...

yep. looks right. for the streaming i think you need extra software. maybe just say "wait for 3 seconds for download" or something so the user knows.

[quote:e4230c4311="edwin"]it installed quick time...[/quote:e4230c4311] what do mean by this?
