I've been noticing some poor performance on the Internet, but nothing too drastic. Looks like maybe everyone dodged a bullet on that one.

can you imagine the secretive meeting? the one guy said that within a half hour anyone who attended the meeting could bring down the internet! that is crazy!
That is pretty scary. In my humble opinion security both on and offline is going to be very important in the days ahead. Breaking down things people come to rely on every day isn't good. Like electric for example. We were without power for a day in the blackout of 2003. The only good thing was the weather was nice.. the rest of it stunk.
you realize how bad it is when you first install a firewall i set up ipchains rules a year ago or so with an old linux box i have as a router. there are normally unauthorized access attempts to my computers every second or so.
I'm getting a 404.
