i went ahead and wrote you one in php: it's here: http://www.web-mastery.net/howmany/howmanytext.php do a file/save as and name the file howmanytext.php in any of the files where you want to add the hit counter, you call it with the following script: ?php include ("howmanytext.php"); ?> if you want to put it on more than one page, just rename the file name and call it with the new name. that way it won't keep overwriting the data.
thanks... i will try it I think I get it!
can I put it to count visits on my site... dont know exactly where to put it in my html code?...
you should be able to insert in anywhere in the code. probably put above the /head statement at the top.
...do you know that the filenames of pages have to end in .php instead of .html for this to work? Just wanted to make sure, cuz if i didn't know I would be totally confused why nothing happened. Also i think tom made a typo but i don't know a ton about php... I'm not sure if: [code:1:9e4bf3d0c3]?php include ("howmanytext.php"); ?>[/code:1:9e4bf3d0c3] will work but I am positive that: [code:1:9e4bf3d0c3]<?php include ("howmanytext.php"); ?>[/code:1:9e4bf3d0c3] would work, tom(or anyone else who knows more about php than I) can clear that up for ya. :D
good call by f-w-r. his example is the correct format!
i think geocities do not support PHP, what do you think? :?:
we use www.sitemeter.com and really like it. we use the paid version to make it invisible and get additional stats but the free one offers quite a few features. you just have to have a small icon on your page for the free one. hope that helps!
