FP2000 I've finally done it after a few hours of corrections - I haven't yet found a quick way to "replace all instances of 'xxx' in all files in folder Z with 'yyy'"... & I still don't know why FP does this & how to avoid it on my next update.
I've never seen a replace all feature like you describe. You might be better off editing the site online. Then when you save it, the links will point at the server and not your hard drive.
I [i:9152ce7b7b]can't[/i:9152ce7b7b] edit it online because "the navigation bar feature is not available on this web" - so says FP! ...& that's where (most of) the problem is. And now I've just OPENED the web on Front Page, & it's gone & automatically changed my hundred links all back to MY COMPUTER (where's the SCREAM button on here?) - without me even saving anything (I closed without saving & checked the pages, & they're all "C:\\My_Webs..." now!) What do you guys all do? This has been dogging me for years... Thanks all,
I think I know what the problem is. It's probably a version conflict between the FP Server Extensions you have installed and the ones that are installed on the server. Have the webhost re-install the FrontPage Server Extensions and that should fix everything. Believe me, you'll be a lot happier and more productive with that problem squared away.
