i need to find boot disks but the disk drive wont even open...it's on, but it wont open. good point about the metal! oh well, if it dies i can use the main board from the other piece of ****...i mean computer i took apart.
okay rickyjo. on the cable for the hard drive you'll see a red stripe. make sure that the red stripe lines up with the number 1 pin on the hardrive and the mainboard. make sure you have the tiny speaker attached so you can hear beep codes. if you listen to the beep codes it will tell you exactly whats wrong.
Ricky, what you describe sounds like a mad scientist's lab. Touch something metal before touching the mainboard. That way you will ground yourself and not cause the mainboard to short out. Make sure the memory is firmly seated. Make sure all the cards are firmly seated. That, or backward cables is the main reason a machne won't boot.
