It completely depends on which part of google you hit during your search, googles mood, and plain luck... It can take anywhere between (like Tom said) 2 weeks - 2 months on average... For some it takes longer.. I've had FP World for years.... and I was in the top 10 forever, then we changed our pages completely recently.. and now because google has to reindex, etc.. we bounce between 0-6 page rank and number 19 to off the board completely in numbers... and will continue to do so for a while... Cheer when you get into google, don't worry when you drop in and out.. and focus on other markets and ways to get your site out.. Google isn't enough to survive... If you want to ensure you will stay up in google.. do the Paid Sponsors... but trust me.. Focus on other venues right now.. Google will stable out on its own.... there isn't anything more you can do..
What are some other things I can focus on besides SE's and trying to have incoming links added?
try to get some directory listings.
links. get more links. it is the most important thing you can do. you may even get some decent traffic if you get links from the bigger sites in your category.
with google, dmoz is the only influence other than your design and content.
Fyrehawg, you need to just learn to hang loose! Google will get you squared away in their own good time.

I just recieved an e-mail from Google Admin..they assured me I havent been penalized..its just exactly what you guys have been saying...dropped cause im so new and unestablished. I hope with my links I have coming in it will cause that will change pretty soon. Hey....is there a certain way people have to link to you for google to pick it up? Cause I can use the link tool from google and it returns nothing. Im guessing thats just like the other stuff...just takes awhile to show up?
good to see we were all right :) no special linking is required. any old link from a web page will count as a link.
For all the people wondering about their site in Google, I think you may be the first one to send them an email and ASK! And they actually answered. Pretty good deal.

the pagerank toolbar relies on servers and sometime those servers are down. nothing to worry about.
One thing to help maintain your listing on google is to obtain a link from another site that has a good PR ranking from google already. This will help the freshbot come back to your site on a reagular basis.
it seems like once you get in it gets more stable.
Hey great news I read here. I am new to web with my site (August 5) and the here again gone again thing has been happening to me for over a week. The things that go through your mind: Am I penalised ? What did I do wrong? Very concerning and heartbreaking when you don't know whats happening. Someone put me on to http://googledance.seochat.com/ where you can look for your web site in Google's 10 servers. I could see that I was listed in 5 of the ten and thats why I was gone and back again. depended on the server I struck I suppose. I hope it rectifies because traffic is a bit slow LOL.
hi stevie, almost everyone goes through the same thing. it seems like after a few months the site gains "stability" and is always in the searches when you look for it. just give it a little time and all should be well.
