Need help w/making site images downloadable in zip format

you need an authentication scheme. once the user enters the correct info they can be brought to the download page. do you know if the server software is apache?

I'm pretty sure there is Apache on my server, I checked and there is a version number with (Unix) in parenthesis. I'm not sure what Apache is though, I'll probably need a pretty detailed walkthru if anybody can help. Thank you for replying. :) DFGgirl
